Morton P. Levine Scholarship -

The purpose of the Fund is to provide a scholarship to a deserving student attending the University of Georgia School of Law. The recipients shall exhibit academic merit to be considered for selection.

Morton P. Levine was born in Mt. Vernon, New York where he grew up. After graduating from high school he entered the U.S. Army for a two-year term of service. After service, he attended the University of Georgia where he became fiercely loyal to the Georgia Bulldogs, and decided to attend Law School rather than leave Athens. He received his LL.B. in 1953.

Morton practiced bankruptcy law before bankruptcy practice came into its own. He handled large and small bankruptcy cases including many national and international matters. He was a founding member of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute and served two terms as President and as a Director for more than 25 years.

As a bankruptcy Trustee and Debtors' attorney, in 2003, he was the recipient of the prestigious David Pollard Achievement Award recognizing his many contributions to Bankruptcy Law and Practice, awarded by the Atlanta Bar Association.
