Dan MacDougald Memorial Award Fund -

The purpose of the Fund is to provide an annual cash award to the first-honor graduate of the School of Law.

The Fund was established in 1953 to honor the memory of Dan MacDougald. Mr. MacDougald was the first-honor graduate of the Law Class of 1910 at the University of Georgia.  From the time of his graduation until his death on April 13, 1953, he was an honored and distinguished member of the Bar of Georgia. He was one of the most devoted, most loyal, and most generous alumni of the University and its School of Law, and a faithful and hard-working Trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation.

This memorial award fund, with gifts from a group of his associates and friends within two weeks of his death, established the second permanent endowment with the University of Georgia Foundation to support the School of Law. Additionally, Dan bequeathed his library to the law school to help establish the collection of law books that would become the Alexander Campbell King Law Library.
