Provides an overview of the digital assets industry, the evolving regulatory landscape in the United States, and where the industry and regulatory regime are going. The course will begin with the basics of digital assets and blockchain technology. We will cover specific digital assets including stablecoins, tokens, NFTs, meme coins, Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, utility tokens, and coin offerings. The course will cover the basics of the pending legislation regarding digital assets, including the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act as well as the regulatory bodies - the SEC, the CFTC, the OCC, and the state patchwork of regulations. By the end of the course, students will gain an understanding of the multiple use cases for digital assets and blockchain that is far beyond the headline news and price of Bitcoin – finance, corporate, payments, securities, gaming, health, logistics and more.
